description: The Study Area Survey Measurements Mosaic Dataset is a collection of geophysical survey data, primarily seismic reflection, sidescan sonar, and bathymetry, in raster format (cells in a grid) that were gathered as part of numerous site-specific, field-oriented studies in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The studies are fully or partially funded by BOEM, an agency within the U.S. Department of the Interior. They consist of sand resource reconnaissance surveys, sand placement surveys, research on baseline benthic ecological conditions, and environmental impact investigations pertaining to the potential effects of dredging operations on the physical, chemical, and biological environment. The data spans approximately three decades of published research and was created after interpolation of single/multibeam soundings, LiDAR, sidescan sonar, magnetometer data, etc. Measurement values consist of elevation, depth, backscatter/intensity, and gamma. Any type of raster data created as a result of sand resource reconnaissance studies, associated with BOEM MMP, will be housed in this raster catalog. The intent is to build on the dataset as new reports become available. Pre-existing reports will be added to the dataset as time permits. Area covered: U.S. OCS (primarily 3nm to 12nm offshore)
