The Dredge Pipelines layer demarcates the location of pipes transporting dredged material hydraulically pumped from an offshore vessel to a beach placement area. Entities are authorized to dredge sand, gravel or shell resources from the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and dispose of the dredged material along the U.S. shoreline after entering into a Negotiated Non-Competitive Lease or Memorandum of Agreement with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). The dredged material is transported and deposited along pre-determined beaches needing renourishment. Dredge pipeline locations are provided in post construction reports and overall final reporting. This dataset is a collection of pipelines representing multiple leases and time periods. The intent is to update the dataset when leases are added or renewed and new dredge disposal activities take place. Revisions to the data will occur regularly. |
